Corporate identity: what it is, why you need it, how much it costs
Corporate identity (corporate identity, brand identity) is far more than a logo - it's the complete visual language of your company, from colors and fonts to communication tone and document templates. A consistent identity builds recognition and trust over years. Our graphic design service covers everything - from logo to brand book.

What is corporate identity
Corporate identity is a system of visual and verbal elements that make up your brand's 'face' - everything the user sees, hears and 'feels' when in contact with the company. Goal: consistency. Whether they look at your site, get an email, see a business card or read an Instagram post - they must immediately recognize 'aha, this is them'.
Big brands that did this masterfully: Apple, Coca-Cola, Nike, Starbucks. You can recognize their ad without the logo - by color, font, atmosphere. That's corporate identity in action.
Difference from logo design
Most common mistake: 'I have a logo, so I have corporate identity'. Not really.
The logo is the central symbol - but on its own it doesn't tell anyone anything about the tone of communication, the brand color, what's written on the business card, what an Instagram post looks like. The logo is 1 element out of 20+ elements in a complete identity.
More about logo design itself in How to make a logo. Corporate identity is the next level - logo + everything else.
Elements of corporate identity
Visual elements
- Logo - all variants (full, icon, monochromatic, inverse)
- Color palette - primary, secondary, accent (with HEX, RGB, CMYK, Pantone)
- Typography - font for headings, body, accent. Which combination, what size
- Photo style - what photos look like (filters, composition, mood)
- Illustrations - geometric, line art, organic, photo-real
- Iconography - icon set for all needs
- Pattern/textures - optional decorative elements
- Slogans and taglines
Verbal elements
- Tone of voice - serious, friendly, bold, educational
- Brand story - why the company exists, what the mission is
- Values - 3-5 values that guide all decisions
- Tagline/slogan - in one sentence, what the company does
- Standard phrases - how you greet clients, how you introduce yourself
Material templates
- Business card
- Letterhead, invoice, contract
- Email signature
- Presentations (PowerPoint/Keynote/Google Slides templates)
- Templates for social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Roll-up, poster, brochure - print basics
Brand book - what it contains
Brand book (the standards book) is a PDF document that 'packages' all of the above into one guide. A standard brand book has 30-50 pages with:
- Brand story and values (2-3 pages)
- Logo - all variants, usage rules, what NOT to do (5-7 pages)
- Color palette - with all codes (RGB, CMYK, HEX, Pantone) (2-3 pages)
- Typography - font hierarchy, usage examples (3-5 pages)
- Photo style - mood-board, 'do' and 'don't' examples (3-5 pages)
- Tone of voice - how we write, examples (2-3 pages)
- Templates - showcase of each template (10-15 pages)
- Examples of practical application - business cards, site, social media post (5-10 pages)
Goal: anyone in the company (marketing, sales, client service) or external partner (printer, agency) can open the brand book and know exactly how to make material that 'looks like the brand'.
How much it costs in Serbia (2026)
- Basic brand identity (logo + palette + typography + brand book up to 20 pages): 700-1,500 EUR
- Standard brand identity (all of the above + 4-5 document templates + photo guidelines): 1,500-3,500 EUR
- Premium brand identity (all + social media templates + illustrations + animated logo): 3,500-7,000 EUR
- Complete brand system (all + brand strategy + naming + tagline + multi-language): 7,000-15,000+ EUR
For most small and medium businesses the standard package is enough. Premium and complete are for companies that scale fast and know they'll have 20+ marketing materials per year for the next 5 years.
When you need corporate identity
Five moments when you should seriously consider it:
- Creating a new company - lay the foundation on day one, don't 'glue' identity 2 years later
- Brand redesign - the old one doesn't work, doesn't communicate the right position
- Entering a new segment or market - e.g. from local to international
- Scaling the team - new team members need a guide on how to communicate on your behalf
- Marketing investment - before you start campaigns, the brand must be clear
